I don't know for sure what the cause of my postprandial tachycardia (after-meal rapid pulse) was, but my best guess at this point is that it was "splanchnic pooling" (blood going to the digestive tract) combined with hypovolemia (low blood volume) which is caused by dehydration which is caused by low aldosterone which is caused by cortisol shunt which is caused by dysregulated (L)HPA axis which is caused by excessive (frustration) stress.

I take licorice to potentiate my cortisol (that is, make it longer lasting). Theoretically, this eases the production of cortisol and allows for other hormones to get built. Taking licorice coincides with apparently better hydration, increased libido, and other symptom relief.

As for postprandial tachycardia, if it is indeed caused by hypovolemia-exacerbated splanchnic pooling, then I recommend eating smaller meals, and saltier meals, and meals with lots of hydration. Oh, and maybe lying down.
