One problem in daily life; to support different cancer groups, when asked I go silent. Completely,.
-like breast cancers. I am questioned about it, as I am obviously "health" concious.. why do you not support it...
Well;
"If Komen’s mission is to find a “cure,” why are they putting over half its money toward promoting awareness and screening, for early detection of breast cancer. It’s not curing Breast Cancer to find out that you have cancer and treat it in the early stages in hopes of entering into remission"

"They admit to about 10% of funds used for “fundraising,” but let’s be honest, the pink-ribbon-plastered “awareness” and”education” campaigns are often little more than a highly effective form of advertising — which in turn, brings in Komen’s millions. In other words, a way to raise funds, for themselves, while getting a pat on the back for their efforts to “save lives.”
"(Did you catch that bit about poisoning healthy women with the carcinogenic cancer drug, Tamoxifen, as a preventative measure? Yeah. Moving on…)"

-When it comes to alternatives, I am quite clear about it; I dont share information unless asked. Because; this create a big dilemma for those who is in the middle of it.
Having to consider that the mainstream may be wrong. Having to fight your doctor. And friends.
- however, if I am asked, I share whatever I have; like;

But to be honest; not many come to this point.
What I do like is that some doctors are now thinking for themselves;
"Just Stop Calling It Cancer - DCIS"
One glaring problem with screening mammography is the detection of DCIS at a rate of 60,000 case per year. DCIS is ductal carcinoma in situ, a pathology diagnosis which carries a very good prognosis, a 98% - 5 year survival with no treatment. In spite of the rather benign natural history of DCIS, mainstream medicine treats these lesions aggressively with surgery and radiation. Recently, the NIH has called for a change in terminology, asking pathologists to stop calling it "cancer".

Here is the NIH consensus statement: "Because of the noninvasive nature of DCIS, coupled with its favorable prognosis, strong consideration should be given to elimination of the use of the anxiety-producing term “carcinoma” from the description of DCIS. "
Just Stop Calling it Thyroid Cancer
A similar proposal has been made for papillary thyroid cancer, requesting a change in terminology, and just stop calling it "cancer". In the 2003 issue of the International Journal of Surgical Pathology, Dr Rosai presented the Porto Proposal , in which he suggested using the terminology, papillary microtumor instead of thyroid cancer.
Just Turn Off the Ultrasound Machines !
An exasperated radiologist, John J. Cronan, MD says in the June 2008 issue of Radiology we should "turn off the ultrasound machines". Cronan questions this entire medical enterprise of detecting thyroid nodules, and small cancers with ultrasound guided biopsy. The thyroid has a large reservoir of clinically insignificant disease, and we are now realizing that screening thyroid nodules for cancer with ultrasound does more harm than good. See my previous article, The Thyroid Nodule Epidemic by Jeffrey Dach MD."
