Hi, I'm new to the site, but I've been researching this for a while and kept finding links to this forum so I thought I'd join. My issues began last spring when I was in a very stressful time in my life. I noticed that my lips started burning and became unusually dry. They hadn't started peeling yet so I wasn't really sure that I had EC.

I stopped eating gluten and the burning stopped. I controlled it that way for about 6 months, noticing that when I ate wheat or nuts that it would return. But in January, during a trip to visit family my lips were continuously burning and then the peeling began. It just got worse and worse.

I've started seeing a new naturopath and have an appt with a dermatologist in a couple weeks. I definitely think there is a link with digestion and inflamation. I'm already on a really strict diet and trying to eat more raw food, and just got a juicer! My naturopath says that I don't have the acid in my digestive system to break down food and I'm not absorbing nutrients. She also thinks that it's a vitamin deficiency? It's so frustrating that no one knows what's going on here.

I've started taking L-Lysene and it seems like it may be helping a bit. The only topical that has really helped is honey. It's a bit messy but all natural!
Any suggestions would be very helpful. Is the concensus that not exfoliatiing the skin is the way to go?

Did anyone else have allergy related symptoms or burning when yours began? Thanks for your help!
