I know this thread is super old, I have the same thing happening kidney pain after beginning DE for the first time. I can not help but wonder, did you find it was something else? we're you able to continue taking the DE?

I would really like to STOP ALL HERBS for a very long time and rely on the intermittent use of DE but I'm afraid of the stuff now.

Sounds like you were in a serious rough patch as well, sure hope you got better.
