Hi Womby,
I searched the forum and was only able to find magnesium as having a benefit on the withdrawal symptoms, but not specifially for blurry vision.
I did read online where it can take 2-9 weeks of severe withdrawals after slowly tapering off of Lyrica.
It appears that Lyrica causes cataracts, but I think this problem would resolve after going thru the withdrawals.
For cataracts, there was a study that showed complete reversal for those eating one serving of spinach per day, but I can't find the video anymore.
How can a drug stop neuropathic pain and help people sleep?
That is a scary thought.
Here is a lawsuit
Here is some chemistry that someone searched on pregabalin:
"Gabapentin was initially synthesized to mimic the chemical structure of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), but is not believed to act on the same brain receptors. So it seems it is NOT a GABA agonist, is only chemically similar to GABA, thus it is a nonfunctional analogue. This matches up with the explained pharmodynamics in the previous citation I had that it ends up reducing glutamate modulated noredrenic activity.
One possible mechanism of action was reported by Ben Barres of Stanford University and colleagues in Cell in 2009. The study shows that gabapentin halts the formation of new synapses[http://www.cell.com/abstract/S0092-8674%2809%2901185-4] (<--This seems bad... reverse neuroplasticity?) . Gabapentin binds to the α2δ subunit (1 and 2)(correlates with the original theorized pharmodynamics here), and has been found to reduce calcium currents after chronic but not acute application( so this effect happens chronically but not acutely? - Then why do I feel the gabapentin about an hour after I take it? - WHERE ARE THOSE PHARMODYNAMICS ARRGGH), via an effect on trafficking [http://www.pnas.org/content/105/9/3628.full.pdf] of voltage-dependent calcium channels in the central nervous system.[http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17403543]. This effect on calcium channel trafficking is another likely mechanism of action of gabapentin(ok, I shall dig into your "trafficking" affect then)."
