Dr. Doug Graham, creator of the high-carb/low-fat raw vegan 80-10-10 diet, says the root cause of Candidiasis is exactly what you suspect, a bad diet too high in fat.

I healed my worst health condition very quickly from following a similar type of mostly raw and low-fat diet, coming off years on a high-protein/low-carb diet.

I researched Dr. Graham's theory about Candida problems more and wrote about it after seeing so many people here struggling on the conventional low-carb/high-fat "Candida diet" to show people there might be another option:

If you choose to try this method, I highly recommend the following site to help you through your journey:

They follow Dr. Graham's 80-10-10, but I think do it a little better because they really stress getting enough calories and have a clear set calorie minimums to meet:

Females = at least 2,500 cal per day
Males = at least 3,000 cal per day

The co-founder of that site Freelee cured her candida problem within 10 days of eating nothing but bananas!

I've been researching the vegan and raw diets quite a bit now and the top two reasons I see why people failed on them were not getting enough calories and eating way too many fats.
