Hey,

I would really be grateful if someone can offer me some advice right now. I have been having some issues lately with my digestive system and my doctor hasn't been great with this issue, going to the toilet for the past 6 weeks has been a problem and I have had to turn to home remedies to try alleviate the bloat and feeling of being blocked. Been impacted twice in a year so my body is all over the place since the last impaction. I think the laxative I was prescribed has also made my colon lazy!!

I havent had a solid BM since December 27th 2012. All I can pass these past 6 weeks (when I can go) is sludgy stool. Not diarrhea, just loose stool. My food is often undigested too so it makes the whole passing experience horrible, sometimes it can hurt. I have a colonoscopy in 2 weeks so I will find out the reasons for all this then, but my real question is about home enemas.

Lately I have turned to enemas to try clear out my colon, along with my 2 daily Movicol sachets. So, for the past week, I have been doing warm water enemas every day to try and get my colon clean so I can retrain it and stick to one weekly enema to keep me healthy. I usually do 1.5 - 2 litres and hold for 15 minutes. The entire enema will evacuate in one go, I feel good initially after it, but as the evening goes on I gradually start to feel bloated again. When I pass the enema I normally can feel some bulk come out with the water surge, and the water is usually mucky brown with bits of food and things floating. But everything comes out in one go, and I am wondering is this normal? Should I have more movement, more solids than this or is the Movicol making it softer and easier to expel in one go? I don't even know does my evacuation count as a successful enema as I am the only person I know who does them. I use the proper enema bag and equipment and I prefer to stick with warm water enema as I am scared of aggravating the colon.

Can anybody shed some light on if I am doing things right? I plan to go another week with the daily enema, but I want to stop it then as I am afraid of becoming dependant on it. Does what I pass count as a successful enema?
