Hi blueplanet, I am interested in your treatment for smoking addiction.

It is true that tryptophan is easily absorbed on a high carbohydrate diet, but a high carbohydrate diet may also aggravate a possible  hypoglycemic condition that may also aggravate addiction.

Instead of putting people on a high carbohydrate diet, put them on Hypoglycemic Diet.  This is a natural high protein diet, which may predictably increase craving initially, but eventually stops the craving. The initial craving on a hypoglycemic diet can be stopped by supplementing with Glycerine, that is obtainable from a health food store.

I know that the hypo diet may not be effective for three weeks but if no drugs have been used (that interfere with receptors for feel-good neurotransmitters) the beneficial effects should be noticeable in two to three weeks.

What do you think of this idea. Is it worthwhile trying it out?

Do you think if there is any success, it should be submitted to one of the universities for for further experimental studies?

Also have a look at Index of Specific Topics under smoking, where I have gathered some studies that may be of interest to you.
