In the video Shade does talk about the use of R-alpha lipoic acid and DMSA/DMPS. He says that the goal is to slowly bring the metal load down using chelators to the point where the body's own detox systems can step in and take over.

I know from my own personal case that DMSA, DMPS and ALA were absolutely indispensable in my feeling better. When I first started chelating with DMSA, I actually had eye twitches and other obvious signs that mercury was being mobilized. I can't imagine where I'd be without the help of those chelators.
