Hi. So today I went to my psychiatrist for the first time because my neurological symptoms have been really bad and I haven't made any progress on my AF. My naturopath and a bunch of other people reccommended me being medicated for my severe depression, anxiety, dissociation, paranoia and suicidal thoughts, so I thought it couldn't hurt since nothing has worked (have been tried on licorice, ashwagandha, ginseng, zen, 5-htp, and l-tyrosine). My naturopath explained that if I keep spiraling downward with my emotional and neurological symptoms, I won't make much progress trying to heal, so I was seeing this as a light at the end of the tunnel. I saw the psychiatrist and she listened closely to my story and put me on effexor 37.5mg 2x a day and trazadone 75mg. I think trazadone will help with me getting more solid and restful sleep since it's helped other people in my family, but I'm worried about the effexor. I've read about cases where it causes too much production of cortisol and people burn out even worse after getting off of it. I feel like if I can get my mental health issues under control, I might be able to make some progress with my adrenal problems, but I'm worried effexor might be the wrong drug for me. I know a lot of my mental symptoms are partly or greatly due to my adrenal problems, but I can't get anywhere in the situation I'm in (no insurance, no way out of working, very low income, tiny support network).

Does anyone on here with AF have experience using low dose effexor, and how did it work out?

What antidepressants are considered safe for people with adrenal fatigue, and has anybody used a psych medication to relieve anxiety and depression to reduce stress and give the adrenals a break?

I'm considering getting a hair test and getting on nutritional balancing with my income tax, but it's a big commitment and I'm not sure it's the right path. The other option I have is getting medicaid and finding an integrative/progressive dr that will work with me, but I'm not sure that would work out. I should mention in addition to AF, I also have hypothyroidism, pancytopenia, iron defiency, candidaisis, and probably a toxic/fatty liver. My candidiasis is at a standstill, I'm slowly getting more overwhelmed by the world every day, and the symptoms of all my problems combined are just becoming too much. I feel like I need a change fast. I'm wondering what people think about my situation and what they would do in my shoes.
