I'm not so sure this is a good idea. I know from experience that whenever I put any time of moisturizer or cream on my lip, whether it's vaseline, polysporin or coconut oil (which is the latest culprit of this problem), the scabs get so soft that they get soggy and detach from my lips very easily.

I do so well for about a week (the longest the scabs have stayed is around two weeks) and then I get the urge to try something new I've read, hence the coconut oil. But really, the best progress has been from just leaving the lips alone. Lately, I've been putting on aloe vera (directly from the plant) as it absorbs as quick as water without it moisturizing. I believe this is speeding the healing time.

Now, because of the coconut oil, I'll have to wait another week for the scabs to form again.

No one said the leave it alone method would be easy, but to be honest, I've been doing it for so long that the scabs aren't even noticeable anymore (very, very thin).
