The T&G powder can work wonders. It really helps shrink the inflamed gums. I found a great way to use it is to make what I call poltice with it. i would shape them similar to the little chewing tobacco pouches. put maybe a tsp of powder on some fine mesh gauze,maybe 1"x1" and fold in half and sew around the outside so it would end up 1/2x1. Dampen in some water then just put between cheek/lip and gum.
