5HTP will help some, but it is not a cure-all. The #1 thing you can do to get your natural seratonin levels up is bowel cleansing. A week of orange juice or Master Cleanse fasting will help soften up the gunk lining your colon. When a short fast is done try doing a bowel cleanse with plenty of fiber. I believe natural fruit vegetable and grain fiber is best, but you can use psyllium for a short while. If your movements are sluggish then try some Lower Bowel Balance or other mild herbal laxative. When the bowel is clean natural serotonin production will increase.

I was on Zoloft about ten years ago, at first it was wonderful, I felt normal, not drugged. However, it slowly took over my life it was a crutch that prevented me from seeing and experiencing things deeply. I felt like I was removed from reality, like being out of sync with the real world. Its hard to describe, but I will never use another antidepressant, they do more harm than good for most people. Sunshine, fresh air, proper diet and a healthy colon will help improve your overall health and outlook on life. It is not a quick fix, but it will work if you are determined to make it work. Solutions are rarely found in pills, even herbal ones, they can fill in the gaps, but radiant health must come from from a naturally healthy body, mind and spirit, everything else is just a temporary band-aid.
