Hi everyone. I've had schizophrenia for 6 years, although it started developing about 4 years earlier.

I'd like to share with you all my success treating it, so hopefully others could benefit.

Originally I was heavily medicated, taking 1,500 mg depakote and 120 mg geodon once at night.

I later read Dr. Abram Hoffer's book, "Healing Schizophrenia: Complementary Vitamin & Drug Treatments."

After reading it, I implemented his suggestions - high doses of niacin, b complex, and vitamin c.

I started taking 1,000 mg niacin, with 50 mg b complex, and 1,000 mg vitamin c with each meal.

I noticed improvements in days. I was happier, less depressed, lost my religious delusions, and improved tremendously.

I reduced my medications over the course of 9 months to 500 mg depakote, and 40 mg geodon. I later stopped the depakote completely and remained on the low dose of geodon.

I later discovered the specific carbohydrate diet. We all know gluten and casein are implicated in mental illness. The SCD eliminated those foods, while also re balancing the gut flora.

I later learned about a diet called "raw paleo." This diet is an all raw diet, including raw animal foods from high quality, healthy animals.

I mixed raw paleo with the SCD. So I began eating grass fed beef, lamb, wild caught salmon, pastured eggs, and organic fruits and veggies.

This diet provides all nutrients in their unadulterated/unheated state. Lots of raw animal fats, lots of omega 3's if you eat some fatty fish and brains. It rebalances the gut flora.

However I find niacin has to be taken. The raw diet didn't do anything for me without the niacin. But with the niacin, it made the niacin work better.
