I am very sorry for you man! try being positive as much as you can. I've been there also including losing my job.
please read this carefully !

NO MEDICINE HAS EVER HELPED ME WITH GIARDIA.
for many reason i guess: first the perioad we are being treated is TOO SHORT so this give the bugs the opportunity to adapt to the meds. second giardia becomes more resistant to usual drugs. third its very easy to be reinfested in the familly, water supply or even by yourself.

what has worked for me (still in treatment thou):
- diet as you said: no sugar, easy carbs, diary....
- better hygiene and changed the water supply (we have giardia in city water supply)
- crushed garlic eaten 15 minutes after being crushed (some use it before the meal as a juice with water - I cant)
- olive leaf (10 days), goldenseal (no more than 7 days), propolis (10-20 drops x 3 times per day) for 20-30 days
- echinaceea can help
- warm water with lemon juice in it helps
- wheat germs helps (10 days)

if you are in India I wonder why wont you try ayurvedic they have better cure for that.
3- 5 days of whatever conventional drug is almost no help.
they replicate like crazy.Albendazole is only for children and mild case.

try to be sure its only giardia - very important. could be also something else - i do hope not.
chronic massive giardia can make you lose weight, can make you malnourished, depressed, and also gives you adrenal fatigue.

i would check water supply and wash your hand everytime you put something in your mouth.
