Agree.  Excess Candida in any form-- yeast or fungal can produce harmful metabolites and cause inflammation. For people that have fungal candida that has overtaken their gut it takes more than just  good immune response to correct the condition. If the candida cells outnumber  our immune cells 10:1 than the immune system doesnt have a chance to overcome the candida. White blood cells have a hard enough time engulfing fungal candida because of its tough cell membrane. Dr. Jeff has shown some good slides of white blood cells engulfing candida and the candida just bouncing right back out of the white blood cell. What was also shown is that the candida after being engulfed can turn fungal(with roots) and cause the white blood cell to burst. Optimal immune response works for people that have mild candida, but not for people that have a gut overtaken with severe fungal candida. It becomes too overwhelming for the immune system to try to take on a whole army of candida in the gut. It becomes a numbers game where the beneficial flora has to outnumber the candida to give our immune system(white blood cells) a fighting chance. This is why so many people relapse (including myself) is that the gut terrain has to be restablished or the candida will just recolonize the gut again and overwhelm the immune system. Creating optimal immune response is crucial to "managing" candida, but will not overcome a candida condition where the candida outnumbers the immune system 10:1. This is why some people have been dealing with candida for 10-20 years.

Whats frustrating is to think that fungal candida has such a tough cell wall so that it can withstand decomposing conditions. And  probably is one of the main purposes of fungal candida is to decompose tissue. Its this highly resistant cell wall is what our immune system has so much trouble with.
