I apologise if I sounded too bitter, but when I hear "nough said", to me it means "shut it", "don't ask", "don't bother me", etc.

English is my 2nd language and I understand many things literally, never mind colloquialisms...

I highly appreciate what Newport has done and keeps doing. No doubt about it.
