Here's the "dictionary" definition: chenodeoxycholic acid [ke″no-de-ok″se-ko´lic]
one of the primary bile acids in humans, usually found conjugated with glycine or taurine; it facilitates fat absorption and cholesterol excretion. The pharmaceutical preparation, called chenodiol, is used in treatment of gallstones.

I get that part, but I don't know what it means if the level in your blood is elevated (above normal). Is it because it's not breaking down properly in the digestive system and therefore being reabsorbed into the bloodstream at higher than normal levels? or, is the liver not reabsorbing it fast enough? or something else?

Did your Doctor tell you? Are you on cholesterol lowering meds?

Also, if your skin is dry and itchy and you get nauseous when eating fats, are you not digesting fats properly and therefore can't nourish your skin from the inside with fatty acids and fat soluble vitamins like A,D,E & K?
