How about using homeopathic pellets and dissolve a couple of those in a small amount of water to achieve the healing effect without possible toxic side effects of Borax? Any thoughts on this?
Silica and Borax are easily available as homeopathic remedies, and I know it is an established practice for acute cases of a developing cold, for example.

My gum health has improved greatly since last year through oil pulling, a combination of supplements (borage, black currant seed oil and ubiquinol, ...) and a change of toothpaste and brushes away from fluoride etc containing toothpastes and electric toothbrush. It was too aggressive for my gums. I am using these small Japanese toothbrushes now; very soft.
I also think to have read, don't remember where, that there is a connection between thyroid and gum health; so by supporting an under-performing thyroid, I probably support my gums too. Getting there :-)
