Maybe it only works for thinner instead of thicker buildup. The silicone strips did not rip off my buildup. The silicone strips seemed to help the buildup gently exfoliate each day until it was gone. I am still not sure if I have an infection in my saliva causing this, but when I read about anti-inflammatory foods possibly helping other people's lips, I wonder if it is fibroblast related. I will soon find out if I have an infection in my saliva.
