I had a long battle with sytemic candidiasis and thanks to a great doctor who recognized what was going on, I was able to work toward overcoming it. The first thing I implore is the need to stop feeding the infection and following a candida cleansing diet. The second is that if the infection is systemic, sudden die-off can make a person even more ill. I did, after a while do a few one-week courses of diflucan but take caution that this medication is very hard on your liver. The second very important thing is probiotics. The yeast gets out of control in the gut due to the normal flora or good bacteria becoming imbalanced. I use a raw probiotic that I purchase from The Vitamin Shoppe (also available at the health food stores). A great anti-fungal supplement is oregano oil. I use Oreganal brand softgels for maintainance. This illness is common when people are overmedicated with anti-biotics or use birth control pills. A few weeks after die-off begins, yeast may appear in the stool which is best described as what looks like a pollenated dandalion (when it turns grey and fuzzy) floating in the water. This is a good sign but I would encourage one to continue the anti-candida regimen as it takes many moths or longer for your systems to come back into balance. Sidenote: malabsorbtion of nutrients is a comon effect of candida so a strong, well-rounded regimen of vitamins is also important.
I've continued to keep my diet free of Sugar as a dietary rule and I save myslef from a plethora of consequences that can result from the contrary.
