Southlondoner, i wondered this myself as i like to drink a glass or two of red wine with dinner. We had a bottle with dinner on Saturday, and Sunday did feel a little rough. My thought, like you, is that the liver and kidneys are working hard right now, and it is probably best to spare them the extra task. I don't have any studies or data to back it, just anecdotal experience and thoughts about those organs and the role they play.
