116107,
Dr Fuhrman MD overworks for his cause (70 hour weeks) so probably does look tired and older for that reason yes, but whatever the wrongs/rights and opinions about being vegan or eating meat or being fruitarian or whatever, we should carefully consider the following.........
Place a Toddler in a playpen with a "live" rabbit and an apple................if the toddler eats the rabbit................I'll give you 1 Million $$$$.
Also consider that the longest lived peoples of the World have traditionally eaten a predominantly plant-based diet, with the addition of only very small quantities of meat.
Beans, including fava, black, soy and lentils, are the cornerstone of most centenarian diets. Meat (mostly pork)is eaten on average only five times per month. Serving sizes are 3-4 oz.......about the size of deck or cards.

Admittedly, diet isn't the ONLY factor in achieving a healthy longevity, but plant-based diets are the norm and not the exception in this regard.
Your disappointing experience with Dr Fuhrmans diet plan is the exception rather than the rule, as he has had much success in permanently reversing many chronic disease states with a plant-based diet. I don't believe he recommends Genetically-Modified grains either, but this food only constitutes a small (very small) part of the diet and can be omitted if desired.
You probably feel terrible on the diet Dr Fuhrman recommends, because you are making the transition from an acid-forming diet, into one that is alkaline-forming: detox during this transition can be VERY uncomfortable indeed, but all to the good.
