The liver will make cholesterol based on its needs.

My sister's friend had high cholesterol and didn't want to take statins.

My sister recommended he get his D levels up to optimum and after he did, his cholesterol went down.

Hormones need cholesterol as well.

The body will create it when needed, but nutrition such as organ meats, seafood and good quality fats can help this all out.
