I cannot comment on endocrine issues.

Hypo is usually caused by nutritional deficiency. Fasting will not solve nutritional deficiencies. Although fasting will probably make the "cure mechanism" more receptive to "healing".

I would recommend you look at the Iodine supplementation forum. Much discussion about hypo there and many cured.
