I had it in for 5 yrs til yesterday. The nurse said I need protection starting immediately because once its out you are not protected and can get pregnant. She said that people sometimes think you are safe til after your next period, but she said fertility starts right from when you take it out. Wonder how true that is for people who are *trying* to get pregnant after mirena removal??
