This sounds to me like low potassium. I have also had similar problems. Eating too Paleo, with little to no fruit or juice probably makes it more difficult to keep up your potassium. Homemade potassium broth would be great if you have the time and energy to make it. I use coconut water (expensive) or potassium gluconate powder when my body tells me I need it. I also eat plums or prunes a few times a week (I'm blood type O so these are good for my blood-type; even though it is high in sugar, small amounts don't affect me much anymore).
Do you get leg cramps at night? Do you get body jerks just before falling asleep? These are some of my signs that I'm too low in potassium. Also, if you supplement with magnesium, you probably also need to take some potassium to balance the increased magnesium. Increasing your potassium can also greatly help with constipation! It helps your muscles so it also increases your peristalsis! I notice this very quickly when I get my potassium up.
Also, my favorite probiotic, for someone with poor digestion (you will notice a difference!): http://www.iherb.com/Jarrow-Formulas-Saccharomyces-Boulardii-MOS-90-Veggie-Ca...

Here's a good article about potassium:
"Potassium is the third most abundant mineral in the body. It is also an electrolyte that regulates blood pressure, water retention, muscle activity, and proper function of every cell in your body. Potassium helps the cells in the body eliminate toxic waste, promotes balanced pH levels, and increases energy.
A potassium deficiency can lead to lowered urine citrate, which in turn can lead to kidney stones. Some medical experts believe that potassium deficiency may either cause or make worse Rheumatoid Arthritis . Sufficient amounts of potassium in the diet may also protect you against hypoglycemia and obesity."
