I have been interested in taking Iodine for sometime, in fact I have already bought Lugols 5% but have a couple of questions before taking it. I also have all the supporting vitamins and minerals to take with it.
** Good for you. Excellent decision!
Its very confusing reading different opinions on the internet. I have read that we only need a tablespoon of Iodine our whole lifetime and any more can damage the thyroid, is this in any way true?
** No 2 doctors can agree on anything about iodine. There is only ONE authority worth listening to: Dr. Brownstein and the group of doctors involved in the Iodine Project. The tablespoon in a lifetime is FALSE, the body needs a MINIMUM of 6mg for life and much more if you eat & drink anything that contains halogen chemicals of Bromide, Fluoride, or Chloride.
Also I have read that taking too much Iodine can damage the thyroid?
** Not true IF you take ALL of the required co-supplements. Any excess iodine simply goes out in the urine.
I would like to work my way up to 50mg in about a month and stay there for 3 months and drop down to 12.5mg a day is this a good way to go?
** I like your plan. You will find more about getting started in the file http://tinyurl.com/iodine-references
I also have never had any hormones (t4 or t3) checked out, do I need to if I have all the symptoms of Iodine deficiency? I dont eat any foods high in Iodine and I have all of the symptoms of being deficient.
** What counts is your body temperature. Monitor yourself to be 98.6 degrees. Any lower and you are hypothyroid. Iodine supplements should eventually clear up hypothyroid.
Overall I just want to know if I can do any harm or permanent damage from taking Iodine.
** Not if you follow the Dr. Brownstein Protocol and if you are not allergic to iodine or one of the supplements.
Much more for you here:
