Medisca is a strong Iodine solution. 12.5mg for 2 drops.
IMO, this dosage is OK for an 11 yr old and is also OK for children that age per Dr. Buist at the Yahoo Iodine Group.

I suggest reducing dosage for the boy to 1/2 drop for a few weeks to see if the symptoms pass, then start titrating back up.

Iodine supplements have been known to temporarily renew the pain of old injuries as though cells are being renewed.
