Hi Sarah, if the Dermatologist actually diagnosed you with SD then the following treatment may help you as it did my Teenage daughter. My daughter was also diagnosed with SD, the first Rookie Derm just gave her T-Gel which didn't do the trick. She had yellow scales of patches and some areas above the ear with redness, where she would peel off the patches of moist scales.....Very disturbing to us.

Anyways the good news is that I took her to a Veteran Derm, that was able to Diagnose and treat it correctly. He said there is no cure for SD, but you can treat and control it where you hardly notice it anymore.

The treatment was Head & Shoulders and a prescription bottle of Clobetasol Propionate Topical Solution, USP 0.05% by Morton Grove Pharmaceuticals (as per bottle). It does requie a prescription.

She put 50 drops 3 times a day for a week, then saw the derm the following week, her scalp was no longer itchy and the patchy scales were gone. Dermatologist told her to use head and shoulders daily (in summer) and every other day in cooler seasons and the drops only when she saw it acting up again. She basically uses the drops once a week, because its under control now, & I am quite relieved for her.

Well that was my teen daughter's experience. I hope it helps you in some way. Good luck to you!
