Even "back in the day" Adelle Davis wrote of how important p.a. is during times of stress, she explained it pretty well in her book "Let's Get Well", in one edition of this book the very first chapter was entitled something like "Stress is the beginning of all illness", the older one I now have is different, the 2nd Chapter is "Meeting the Demands of Stress" . In a section of that chapter entitled "Nutritional needs are increased" she wrote that a p.a. deficiency causes the adrenals "to shrivel and become filled with blood and dead cells; cortisone and other hormones can no longer be produced,, and the many protective changes characteristic of stress do not occur. Even a slight lack of p.a. causes a marked decrease in the quantity of hormones released" and the first of the 6 references given to support the above dates from 1940! Personally, I think it's a crying shame that it took about 4 decades for the role of B vitamins during times of stress to become widely recognized and for vitamins for stress to become available to the public.
