So my question is whether or not one very brief instant of exposure with mold can cause odd symptoms about 3 weeks later. I opened the refrigerator door of an old abandoned refrigerator in a warehouse on July 19th, 2012 and was hit by a wave of nauseating mold smell. The fridge was thick and dark with mold that looked like it had been growing in there for ever. I immediately closed the door and never opened it again and didn't think much more of it but then on or around August 9th, 2012 I started getting a lot of congestion and feeling really . . . Well I can only describe the feeling as spaced out, in a fog, or just not all there mentally). This weird feeling I attributed to the allergy medicine I had started taking for the congestion that had just started so I stopped taking the medicine but it persisted and hasn't gone away yet. I also had a feeling of a weak neck and this started about three to four days after the brain fog feeling. On August 19th, 2012 I ended up coming down with a typical cold but then it turned into an infection with lots of chest and head/ear congestion. I was put on Antibiotics for the infection which did help clear up a lot (not all) of the congestion but never did anything for the brain fog. While I was on the Antibiotics and even now I've been feeling like I have an overall fatigue or muscle weakness in my arms and legs. Not that I couldn't fully function just that they felt weak or tired. I'm totally baffled by all of these strange symptoms and the brain fog is by far the worst of all of them. So I was just wondering if this sounds like it could be possible that my brief exposure to the mold is the underlying culprit in all of this or is it most likely something else. Luckily if it is the mold I still have access to the fridge and could get it tested to see what type it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated as it has been very stressful.
