First of all tell them to do a "Punch Biopsy" so that they get deep into the lip. And just make sure they do the biopsy from under one of the crusts. If they do it somewhere else it would be pointless. The area they do it on NEEDS to be an area affected by EC.

Also ask them to take part of the biopsy and do a culture. This will find any bacterial/fungal infections.
