I don't know about metal bed frames, but I can no longer sleep on mattress coils at all. Besides the information about them being electrically bad for humans, I found that my back hurts like crazy when I sleep on coils. I sleep on a peice of IKEA foam on the floor, and humble as that may be, I love it. No back pain!
