Hybrids are always the most viable species. Perhaps they were mixing the DNA of their criminals (and/or citizens that were deemed inferior) to make slaves. Was it a form of punishment. IE prison planet?

The DNA insertion that interests me the most is when God raped the Virgin Mary and created a superior being.
