A few things jump to mind ...

Some of the symptoms (tingling in extremities) you described make me think of B vitamin deficiencies, especially B12.

Here are some follow-up questions that could be helpful in narrowing down the possibilities:

1. Does your mom have any overt gut issues (chronic diarrhea, constipation, GERD, 3+ days between bowel movements, bloating, excessive gas, etc.)?

2. Is the loss of taste associated with a loss of smell? If so, has that corrected or not?

3. Do you have any near relatives with Parkinson's?
