Hmm, sounds like a large piece of your puzzle is that your nervous system might be stuck in sympathetic dominance ("Fight or Flight mode), or you go into it too easily.

Having a lot of emotional turmoil coupled with an unhealthy lifestyle (poor diet, excessive alcohol and smoking, drug use, etc), creates the perfect storm.

Did you have a lot of anxiety and life-long emotional problems before you started getting real sick? I did and that played a large part in my illnesses.
