The most potent and harmless sleep medicine of all for deep sleep and awakening in the middle of the night is GHB (Xyrem) - tried it back when it was legal, but it got used as a 'date rape' drug and the DEA / FDA/ Pharma mafia has restricted it like crazy and the only company allowed to make it charges like $1000 a month for a few cents worth :(
