Sorry about your lack of decent books to read, the clean people can live among those with lice in the same home and not have the creatures, they ONLY thrive upon dirty people and by dirty I mean dirty inside, they can wash all they want and wear clean pretty cloths all they want, but the lice live upon their diet that is their true dirt.
