I don't know. I did use commercial lip balms for many years. I did use Vaseline before getting EC. I never peeled/bit/lip my lips before getting EC. So it was either the constant lip balm use, the Vaseline (which I at least believe contributed to it), or somethings totally unrelated (some internal thing). But I really have no idea.
