This has happened to me too :) I learned recently that there is an edit feature on each post up at the top. You can edit your message or cut out duplicate info if you want. I think that only a moderator can delete a message. The Edit option doesn't last forever, but it works for awhile (at least a day) when you're likely to want to edit.
