Heavy bleeding usually entails higher pain. I'm guessing you take some pain killers frequently!? Ibuprofen et al. will raise liver enzymes like AST/ALT and keep them raised for a few days.

Fish oil will thin the blood, making you "leak" more of it in times of flow. Make sure to take a raw, mixed Vitamin E with at least 8 different tocos (tocotrienols/tocopherols) with any oils that could potentially become rancid, especially any omega-3s.

I'd question anything and everything ob-gyn docs do. I have not been impressed with their "services" for your type of situations.
