I think I love you, Grizz:)

rambling thoughts...

Dr. David Derry states in his book, "Breast Cancer and Iodine" that the rates of Breast Cancer in the U.S. began to rise after the iodization of salt. Makes sense for two reasons, first, that the amount of Iodine available from salt is minimal, the second, that there would be no I2 ingestion, and I2 is what the breasts need.

So, salt was iodized, goiter, the most obvious manifestation of Iodine deficiency is cured. End of story.

Guy Abrahams references a pharmacist from the twenties in one of his writings on the history of iodine. He states that the pharmacist bemoans the fact that people were now relying only on iodized salt for their Iodine needs. Apparently, prior to this time people used Lugol's for their iodine needs although I can't find much writing on the "daily dose"(prior to salt iodization, that is).

I guess that my point with this rambling is that we have no sense of history. We're all caught up in the "now". People don't seem to realize that Western Medical standards are quite new(and untried, VERY experimental, profit-driven, etc). We NEED TO BE AWARE of history. Ideas and ideals are lost with each succeeding generation. There is no custom of passing down information any more, although it's all there, for those that care to dig.

That statistic on Breast Cancer rates going up after salt iodization just seems to have gone by the wayside, nobody was paying any attention at all, so it seems. Iodine's beneficial effects on the breast had been well known for 100 years at that point.

But hey, onward and upward, yes? New things to try, x-rays, surgery, chemotherapy. Money-making things. New drugs. Can't patent iodine!

Iodine deficiency is a huge part of the problem, but it's not the only factor.

Ancient physicians saw breast cancers as systemic diseases, and saw that the whole organism needed to be treated. That's one of the reasons we see reports on this forum of iodine "not working", because people think that just the iodine will cure whatever. It won't. That's the oft-referenced "magic pill" mentality at work. The mentality that we are trained into.

The whole body needs to be attended to. The diet probably needs cleaning up. The eliminative system needs to be in good working order. Gotta get exercise.

It is damned difficult for most people to take control of their health, to wean themselves of the trained reliance on "experts"', doctors, etc.

...end of ramble, for now...
