"I'm hoping water kefir is truly as beneficial as milk kefir. Hv?

Yes, you are still getting the beneficial acids and beneficial bacteria."

"The nice thing about kefir is that it generally contains a broader range of probiotics than most supplemental probiotics. And you know the cultures in kefir are still live. With probiotic supplements it is hard to tell if they are still live since you have no idea if they were subjected to excessive heat or have been stored too long.

In the long run though as I mentioned before prebiotics are much more beneficial than probiotics since they feed all the strains of flora. Probiotics just replace some strains."

"Both. Kefir is a probiotic because it actually contains the flora. But you need the prebiotics to feed the flora so they can grow. Imagine getting a bunch of kittens (representing the good bacteria). Do they grow and multiply without food? Of course not. So you give them food (representing the prebiotic fibers) so they grow and multiply"
