Hi sd2345,
Thanks for your post and the amazing report on your son. If he was delivered at 4:30 am,it sounds like you were already in labor. Your baby would have gotten exposure to oxytocin (one of the important bonding hormones) with your contractions that non-labor c-section babies do not get. He would have also gotten this in breast milk.
There seem to be some differences between how the baby is affected by non-labor c-section versus labor c-section. These differences are addressed in some of the books previously quoted from as well as links posted. The information is there for interested parties. And the savvy, intuitive, loving parent is probably going to be able to more than meet the needs of any baby who had less than an "ideal" birth.
This forum is so not about any guilt, powerlessness, failure or any other emotion a mother may harbor after a c-section, unless, of course, any unprocessed emotions surrounding this procedure adversely affect the mother-child bond. There is plenty of information out there,as well as support these days for the moms.
This forum is more about the individuals whose amygdalas (fright/flight center of brain) did not get saturated with oxytocin around the time of their birth/delivery, as nature intended, and did not have this lack made up for in other ways, i.e., breastfeeding and loving, attentive parents with good parenting skills.
