I think it might be found anthroquinones such as emodin are strong anti-fungal, I think probably one of the ketone groups is reduced in the body to an alcohol and then it combines with a second molecule of emodin to form in situ a potent anti-fungal with the necessary geometry to fit right where it needs to go.
