It might be in some cases. It might not be in other cases. The body doesn't always "know what to do". There are skin diseases like Psoriasis where the body sends out false info to make the cell growth much faster than it should be... The affected areas don't just magically heal when leaving them alone.

Although I am not hoping that it is, I somehow think that in many cases, this is some kind of Psoriasis or something similar and it might not heal even when leaving them alone. It might even be that those guys that got cured had a minor case of this skin disease and it just went away while leaving them alone...

Spectulation... Again, I'm not hoping it to be anything like that but it does make sense.
