I have 3 cats and 2 of the 3 acted sick after using Advantage. The 2 that acted sick acted so immediately after putting the spot on Advantage for cats. They both wince their eyes for awhile and act nauseated for days, throwing up. I'm concerned because the healthiest, cleanest cat is acting the worst from it. He seldom throws up and doesn't get many fleas. The problem is that with a multiple cat household fleas will eventually get to him. But after seeing what happened, neither of the 2 will get Advantage again. I used Frontline for a long time without issue, but only when there was evidence of fleas maybe 3 months out of the year. But the Frontline became ineffective preventing fleas for only about 3 weeks. I've dealt with fleas for years so I don't need a diatribe on how to do that. I have little carpeting in my house. I've used Raid for spot treatment of fleas effectively for years. It kills the entire cycle and lasts at least 8 months. I seldom have to use it and of course all of my animals are out of the house for hours if and I do use Raid.

The secret to keeping fleas down is a really healthy pet. It's worth the cost of buying great food for your pets, as well as, play and exercise. They will have super immune systems if you feed them right. Be picky about the shots you get for your pets too. I get my cats limited shots. Read up on that please. Do research. A vet friend advised me that annual shots are indeed overdone. To prevent fleas in your yard DETHATCH! And don't believe the vets/pros that tell you the fleas die with the first frost or snowfall. Those buggers live through anything. You can douse your yard with pesticide. Fleas will hide under the thatch and survive just fine. After the first time we dethatched our yard, my pets didn't have fleas for 2-3 years! It's good for your lawn too.
