I wouldn't give up on the CS or oil of oregano.  Gargle the CS several times daily and then swallow.  You could also try the old standby of gargling with warm salt water (not at the same time as CS) and spitting it out.

One thing I do, besides the above, that has helped greatly is drizzle a bit of echinacea tincture down my throat.
