Borax is Boric Acid which needs to react to become Boron. There are many reasons why this Boron is not as good as some of the others but the most important is that ONLY Boron in Asparatate form is guaranteed to make it into [and back out of] the brain intact.
Both to absorb Fluoride as well as 90x its molecular weight in radiation..
